Vanessa is a London-based travel, food and portrait photographer who works internationally with editorial, advertising and private clients. Born and raised in Boston, she was encouraged by her father to take up photography from an early age.  Vanessa went on to study Classical Archaeology at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she combined her academic interests with her passion for photography in a thesis paper analyzing the visual impacts of social stratification within ancient Roman amphitheatres.

Her book commissions include Frommer's (Italy Day By Day) and Fodor's (The Travel Guide To The Da Vinci Code) and her editorial clients include Condé Nast Traveller, The Wall Street Journal and Good Housekeeping. Through her work, Vanessa has photographed luxury hotels, chefs and restaurants all over Europe, climbed the High Atlas mountains in Morocco and secured a private shoot of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. The experiences and challenges that location photography brings are all a welcome adventure and she loves the process of engaging with people around the world to create true and telling portraits.

Vanessa's work is represented by Getty Images and her photography is used in advertisements in many international markets. She regularly shoots for The London Borough of Camden and was commissioned as photographer for their ongoing Love Camden campaign. Other advertising clients include Badminton England, Philips, for whom she was commissioned to create an image collection representing their FIFA World Cup Sponsorship, London Business School and Swiss Finance Academy.

Vanessa's current personal work focuses on intimate documentary portraiture. She has three ongoing portrait projects, all exploring family, nostaglia and the passage of time. For the last 12 years Vanessa has lived between London and New York and is currently based in London with her husband and 2 children.
