Brief Summary
Technology, Culture, and Communication have always been my passions. Over years, my professional and personal experience turned out to be an exploration and research of how they affect one another, and have taken me to a journey to live and work in four different countries (Brazil where I was born, Japan, Germany – from which I also hold a citizenship -, and the United Kingdom) over the last ten years. Moreover, it has taken me to edit over 25 books in the last seven years, in areas such as advertising, Internet, computer graphics, art, product design, computer games, and others, collaborating with people from over 50 countries. My aim has been to understand how different cultures navigate in this new environment of multi-platform communication, with endless possibilities.

After studying graphic design and marketing, I have left my native Brazil for Japan, where I spent almost four years in Tokyo as an editor and art director for digital and design magazines. I subsequently (2001) joined TASCHEN in Cologne, Germany where, as editor-in-charge, I have been creating a number of titles in a wide range of subjects, from design to pop culture, including Digital Beauties and the popular Web Design and Advertising Now! series. I have also lectured on digital culture, publishing, design, advertising, communication, and technology. In the last couple years I been a speaker at some events around the world, including at TED 2007 (Monterrey), Art Directors Club (Madrid), Benetton Fabrica (Italy), Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), EFX (Germany), UOL (São Paulo, Brazil), BNDES (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), CMYK Conference (Barcelona), e-DIT (Germany), Plus Design Conference (Birmingham, UK), and Belgrade Design Week (Serbia). To date my books have sold over 1 million copies worldwide.
