Summer 2005 - Present, Freelance Illustrator / Designer I set up and currently run my own business Vicky Newman illustrations, working with a wide variety of clients, answering creative briefs and brand identity problems, handling accounts and also pitching and presenting for new briefs. Summer 2008 (Press and Exhibitions)
Exhibited at the Walker-Platt Gallery in Whitstable as part of the House Of Aces illustration collective. Created 9 internal illustrations for a book published by Scholastic USA due to be released early in the new year. Interviewed for Photoshop Creative Magazine (published by Imagine Publishing) on creating images digitally and tips on digital painting.

Spring 2008 (Press and Exhibitions)
One of twenty short listed for the Harper Collins and Saatchi gallery book cover competition for the book The Last Days of the Lacuna Cabal by Sean Dixon. Featured in Quick and Crafty Magazine (published by Aceville Publications) in an article on illustration for products. Exhibited at the George House Gallery as part of the House Of Aces illustration collective “Unexpected Illustration”.

Winter 2007 (Press and Exhibitions)
Work featured on the cover of The Champagne Report published by Union Press). Poster campaign for American Charity Love Your Body. Website design for House of Aces Collective.

Autumn 2007 (Press and Exhibitions)
Illustrating the cover of the audio cd The Wrong Sheriff, a satirical story about life under Tony Blair’s government. Promotional work for Cornish clothing company Fat Sparrow. Work featured by the artist badge company Prickie.

Summer 2007 (Press and Exhibitions)
Selected as one of three artists from across the country to have work featured in the Sunday Financial Times in an article about young artists and their work. Exhibited at the headquarters of advertising agency TBWA, London in a month long solo exhibition of current work.

Spring 2007 (Press and Exhibitions)
Interviewed by ABC News in the United States about my working practice, this was both broadcast and also became part of their permanent online video library. Work featured in Brazil’s main national newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo in an article about Charles Saatchi and his links to young artists.

Winter 2006 (Press and Exhibitions)
Work featured on the front and inside cover of The Independent supplement Extra in a special guide to the next generation of Brit Artists. Profiled by Australian website ‘Lost at E Minor’, a website dedicated to discovering the best new illustration, photography, art and music from Australia and around the world.

Autumn 2006 (Press and Exhibitions)
Work selected to be part of Noise Festival UK 2006 - 2007 which seeks to exhibit the best in young creative talent across fashion, film, music, design, architecture and written word.

Summer 2006 (Press and Exhibitions)
Part of an exhibition of illustrated plaster casts of female torsos in Biarritz, France to raise money for Keep A Breast.
Part of an exhibition titled First Class Post in four venues through out South East England.

Summer 2004 Graphic Designer
Working in the Creative and Advertising department of
Quest International, Ashford in a three month summer internship. Duties included, presenting tutorial groups, working with a small team on packaging and display designs and creating promotional information packs to be used both internally and externally for the creative perfumery department.

Programs:
Proficient using Macintosh and Windows format computers, with a sound understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and a good understanding of Flash and Dreamweaver. Excellent Word / Excel skills.

Interests:
Having studied for an illustration degree I enjoy creative challenges, experimenting with new media and collaborating with diverse and interesting people. I love meeting new people and hanging out with old friends, catching movies, French toast and New York City.
