Paul Henninge on The Creative Finder

Paul Henninge once received a fortune cookie that stated: your artistic career will be supported by an industrialist. Some fortunes come true. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design from the Ohio State Universitys College of the Arts. After graduation in 1987, he moved to Cambridge Massachusetts where he became director of design for Product Genesis, Inc. While in Boston, he helped create a variety of products ranging from new and innovative medical instruments to unique children's play environments. He acted as a juror in an MIT product design competition while in Cambridge and authored design editorials such as the In Focus review on NYC Designing the 90's 1988 World Design Conference. In 1998 his award winning recumbent exercise cycle was chosen to be exhibited at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. He has been awarded several design awards along with both design and mechanical patents. His philosophies on design intermingle with social and environmental impacts of the material world in our daily lives. He also practices his profession with an emphasis on teaching younger designers about the profession. He was a guest lecturer at an industrial design course at the Harvard School of Design from 1995 to 2001. His greatest professional joy is the mentoring of young designers that have gone on to accomplish rich and rewarding creative careers. Paul has been an active Vermont design consultant in since 1990 and has influence a wide variety of industries. He has designed products as diverse as Danish wood stoves to the shape of soap, to a ski pole grip used by gold medal Olympian, Tommy Moe. Paul is a graduate of the Snelling Center for Government Vermont Leadership Institute.
