​AM was born in Faro, southern Portugal, in 1959. Studied painting at Lisbon University Fine Arts School until 1985.
Like many other painters he started drawing and painting as a child and continued until he became a professional visual artist.
His first individual exhibition was in 1982, while studying at Lisbon University. Since then he has participated on many collective art projects and made several individual exhibitions and public performances. In 1991 he created the group 'S/Título' [No Title], together with other Portuguese painters, whose 'purpose' was to act and sensitize to art. From 1995 until 2002 he worked on scenery projects, including large dimension scenarios and objects for dance choreographs, theater and public actions.
He has also developed his knowledge of graphic design and photography. He is accomplished with a large portfolio working for private companies and Institutions.
