Brief Summary
Christopher Poehlmann has been designing and building furniture and lighting since 1988 and exhibiting his photography since 1985. Self trained, he is fundamentally design obsessed and possibly genetically predisposed for a love and understanding of the functional object.  After finishing his undergrad in Psychology at Wittenberg University and a brief but important term in photography school at Salzburg College in Austria, he went on to establish himself first in the world of Studio Furniture and then contemporary design.
Internationally recognized in the design community either by name or through his company CP Lighting, Poehlmann’s work has been published in countless magazines, blogs, a few books and even a feature on HGTV’s Modern Masters series. An accidental trend forecaster, Poehlmann has been on the leading edge of the sustainable design movement since well before it was a movement, has led the current trend of rustic modern, and has occasionally been used to forecast color trends via his recycled acrylic lamps.  He has also had the honor of two terms on the Board of Trustees for the Furniture Society for which he ran the exhibitions program directing and curating a number of studio furniture exhibitions. He is currently writing essays on design for Modern Magazine and collaborating with Danny Fielder on a series of photo based work with superimposed text by Fielder that are being displayed on billboards as public art throughout the US and abroad.
Poehlmann has debuted new work for his company CP Lighting at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair for nearly two decades and has been happily working with ILEX Architectural Lighting as a designer for the past 10 years.  He is married to a professor at University of Pennsylvania where they live with their two children.
