Nick Dewar was born in Scotland. He grew up in a small fishing town on the East Coast and attended Art School in Glasgow. Since then he has lived in Prague, London, New York and on a sheep farm in Cumbria. He currently lives in Southern California with his cheesemonger/scientist wife, two small cats and a neurotic tomato plant. In 2006 He took a year off to concentrate on collecting exotic ailments and travel around the World. His work has appeared in magazines, on billboards, in books and on the wall next to the
telephone. Illustration has been his sole occupation since leaving art school over 15 years ago and indeed it is doubtful that he could actually hold down a proper job if asked.
His work has appeared in magazines, in cinemas, on billboards, in books and next to the telephone. He has had published in countries as far flung as China and Iceland but mostly work comes from Americans.
Nick admires the work of E McKnight Kauffer, The Steinberg brothers, Anthony Valonis, Eric Fraser, Earl Oliver Hurst and Ivor Cutler. However inspiration mostly comes from crackly music and wandering about in a perpetual daze. His spare time is spent ministering to the demands of the tomato plant and
eating fine cheeses.
