From Southwest England.
My main inspiration comes from films by directors such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Peter Greenaway and Theo Angelopoulos. My other inspirations are just everyday life, the countryside where I live etc.
I tend to start with process as a subject, so start with an idea of burying film where it was shot, or trying out double exposure on polaroid and just see where it goes. There is never an idea of what an outcome will be, the journey is always more important than the destination. So basically, I just watch films, watch life, take some photographs for fun and just keep going where ever it leads. This quote from a film pretty much sums up how I think I work:
“Its as if you don’t care about time passing. And yet I know that you are in a hurry to leave. Its as if you’re going nowhere, and yet you’re going somewhere.”
- Line from Theo Angelopoulos film Landscape In The Mist
