Gary Fernández (1980) is an illustrator and graphic artist based in Madrid, Spain. He is currently living in Vancouver, Canada. He’s also the co-founder of the T-Shirt brand VelvetBanana.


Amongst other clients, he has worked with Zune Originals, Volkswagen, Nokia, Coca Cola, McCann Erickson, Grey, Young & Rubicam, FCB, etc...


Recently, he finished his first book called “Introduction to Fantastic Girls, Future Landscapes & The Most Beautiful Birds Ever Seen”.

Maybe the best description of his work could be a combination of strange-imaginary characters, flowing, intricate and psychedelic compositions and the representation of surrealistic stories or actions.

He is strongly influenced by music, but he also finds inspiration in the city and the forest. Just walking and looking at the people doing normal things can be a great source of ideas to him.

He believes in the idea of illustration as a tool for showing the hidden beauty in the ordinary things.
