Brief Summary
Creative Director, Art Director, Designer with a passion for work that inspires, connects and creates action thru seamless experiences that are perfectly designed and flawlessly executed.

I love experiences.
And I love every form of advertising.
Ink, paper and pixels. Directional audio and projections.
Presenting, concepting and pitching. iPad, iPhone – anything iOS.

I believe of course that advertising is about forging brand relationships and that great ideas & insights will always be its connective tissue. But the journey, channels and value prop have changed to be more complex AND creative than ever. And contributing to someone’s passions, needs and networks are the inroads to forging the modern brand relationship. That means the best brands will be about acting and contributing – not just talking.

Serious stuff. I also like being really busy and doing lots of different things in a day. I like ideas that never consider execution till it’s absolutely necessary. And I like working with people that love what they do.

I’ve been a designer, art director, creative director and executive creative director. I’ve worked for lots of clients, lots of brands, in lots of mediums. Directed TV and web shoots. And built and managed 40+ person creative groups. All of it great fun.

All that aside, I’m a creative that wants to create. One that is integrated through-n-through. I care less about titles and more about a doing innovative things, with talented people that love doing what they do.

That's me.

RAPP is one of London’s premier integrated agencies. They’ve become the modern agency, cutting through-the-line and picking up completely integrated clients to build holistic, insight-driven creative work. I oversaw a 40+ person creative department packed full of great creatives. I built a completely integrated group producing award-winning work with my amazing counter-part Barney Cockerell and had fun doing it.

SOME SUCCESSES:
- Delivering over 50 integrated campaigns for Apple in 13 languages across EMEA.

VP, Group Creative Director
Rapp Collins Worldwide - New York
October 2005 – January 2008 (2 years 4 months)

At the time that I arrived, RAPP New York had begun tipping the scale from a number one direct marketing agency to the modern, integrated agency that it is today. I was brought in to help with that. While there, we won XM, ESPN and Discovery Channel - while also re-inventing existing clients such as Mercedes-Benz, Novartis and Merck by creating new CRM and digital programmes.

SOME SUCCESSES:
- 360º launch for Discovery Channel including a great TVC directed by Joseph Kahn.
- Launched one of the first Facebook apps along-side a ground-breaking site for Gardasil.
- Created XM’s first digital media and CRM programmes with hundreds of unique experiences.
- Designed a mail platform for Mercedes that was way more creative, for less cost. Yeah!

CLIENTS INCLUDE:
Mercedes-Benz, XM, ESPN, Discovery Channel, Novartis and Merck.

November 2003 – October 2005 (2 years)

i33 was an outstanding integrated agency in both New York and Detroit. As ECD, I served as the creative lead for our relationships with Buick, Delphi and GM and managed the creative group across both offices. During my time there we produced tons of great work for GM, including 2 model year site redesigns, 6 micro-sites, 3 new vehicle launches and multiple online media and email programs.

GM, Buick, Cadillac, Bodum and Delphi.

Owner / Creative Director
rethawt
March 2002 – November 2003 (1 year 9 months)

rethawt was an advertising boutique I started based on affordable, quality design and advertising for small businesses. I started the company with the primary objective to create cohesive brand and marketing solutions that stretched across print, digital, TV, and radio. It was quickly a big success in Detroit and I ramped up with some great designers, writers, animators and developers.

CLIENTS INCLUDE:
GM, Buick, PBS, VW, Johnson Controls and Detroit Public Television.

Art Director / Senior Art Director / Associate Creative Director
marchFIRST / USWeb / CKS / Divine
April 1998 – March 2002 (4 years)

As one of the largest interactive agencies during the .com years. I earned my digital chops here working on something new everyday. In the end, I was the creative lead for the Detroit office, responsible for the direction and management of a 35+ person creative group.

CLIENTS INCLUDE:
AOL, Yahoo, DaimlerChrysler and Audi.

Art Director
CDS Detroit
November 1996 – April 1998 (1 year 6 months)

CDS was a leader in the aggressive inline skating and skateboarding world with a very cool internal marketing and product development team. Designed the company’s website, catalogues, advertisements, packaging, displays, commercials and clothing line. Organized and sponsored 3 national 26 city skate tours.

Designer
the Whitcomb Design Group Inc.
September 1994 – November 1996 (2 years 3 months)

Started off here as a little guy learning the fundamentals from a group of seasoned designers at this full service design studio. Working on logos, ads, shoots, brochures, displays, signage, etc.

Before this I don’t know what I was doing, maybe I was working at a coffee shop. I know I was in a band living in a crap loft in downtown Detroit.
