The driving force behind acme1225 is Rochelle, a Bay Area native, who in another life is a wardrobe stylist with 15 years of styling experience under her tasteful and elegant belt.
Since 2008 Rochelle has put a funky, chunky and punky spin on safety pin bracelets which originated in the 1990's in South Africa by a group named the Inkwenkwezi ( the name of a star that appears over Africa before the plowing season).
Through acme1225 Rochelle draws inspiration from these craftspeople - who are well known for taking common over-looked and sometimes discarded items - by utilizing distinctive color combinations to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are known to turn heads.
A portion of each sale goes to the Galkayo Education Center for Peace and Development (GEPCD), a program that provides educational opportunities and job training for young girls and women in Somalia. More information on the program can be found here:
