THE ART OF THE COIN This original coin, created by the legendary American artist Steven Noble, was carved by hand, into scratchboard. Scratchboard, a traditional illustration method is also used for creating currency and bond certificates. The following images of Steven were taken in his home studio, just outside of San Francisco, in Sonoma County, California.
