The Federal is an Ottawa-based design service consultancy and producer of unique, Canadian-designed, sourced, and manufactured goods.

The Federal offers its clients a wide range of design-based expertise, from concept generation right through to mass manufacturing. We will work with your company to help design and develop unique, smart, innovative and beautiful solutions for your desired product or service. In parallel to developing a product or service, we can work with you to develop your brand or image, define and execute user testing, or research. It is key that we develop the whole user experience to ensure that your product or service is used correctly and efficiently.

Ian Murchison and Rohan Thakar are both Industrial Design graduates from Carleton University's School of Industrial Design in Ottawa, Canada. They both worked on the design team at Research In Motion as part of the Accessory team dealing with carrying solutions, bluetooth products, audio products, power solutions and more.

The Federal was born between the collaboration of design ideas beyond the world of communications and electronics. The idea and desire to explore alternative sides of design and branch out creatively.
