Brief Summary
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

MAURIZIO GALIA was born in Moncalieri (Turin) Italy, on the 28th May 1963 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, from 1978 until 1986, under the direction of Francesco Tabusso, Enzo Sciavolino and Sergio Saroni. From 1982 he worked for various advertising agencies and specialised as visual designer and illustrator for comics and books.

Professional Experience
1987-1991 "THE REQUIEM" History of the last year of Mozart in comics and music, self-produced in videocassette U-matic with dialogues played by Italian actors.
This film was presented on tour at many festivals around Europe and Italy. 1995 "THE REQUIEM" of W.A. Mozart performed live from the chorus "Antonio Vivaldi" with projections of the artist at the St. Katerine Chapel of Acqui Terme, Italy. 1998 "AGENDA BIENNALE della BIENNALE GIOVANI" Diary published by "BIENNALE INTERNAZIONALE GIOVANI" a City incentive by the government of Turin. It contains two pages of illustrations by the artist.
Between 1980 and 1999 the artist worked on a quantity of schoolbook illustrations and for some exhibitions. Since 1990, he worked as teacher for A.T.I.F.
( Image and Comics Turin Society) and some private institutes.
From 1996 the artist has created puppets and ideas for the "Madison Mark" agency of Turin, specializing in sports merchandising.
With his pencil "Ambrogio"(the crocodile mascot for "Inter F.C."),"Zigo"(the dog mascot for "Hellas-Verona F.C.") and the eagle trademark for "Alpitour TNT volley team of Cuneo, took shape. "Alex" (the mascot for "Juventus F.C.") and "Dudy"( the devil mascot for "Milan F.C") were restylings of existing designs. Currently, the artist is in contact with Peter Gabriel’s "Real World" on a new project.
Another important job is the complete range of over 250 handpainted illustrations helped with Photoshop , for a PC game called “The Iron Mask” published at the end of 1999 by Medialab for the Italian market.
This job was the start of a new career as cartoonist.
The past 7th November 2001, the artist has won the Italian nomination for the Carlsberg MTV Best Fan Award in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
This nomination was the result of a large project of merchandising prepared from the artist for Peter Gabriel (www.petergabriel.com).
October 2003 Organization of the first ever Paul Whitehead’s exhibition in Turin and His first ever catalogue for the world.
After 20 years, in the past january 2006, was finally published the book “REQUIEM” with all the comics of Maurizio Galia based around the mistery of W.A. MOZART death.

In the second half of 2007 MG was recruited by the Italian Army as Art Director and supervisor of any graphic work required by the High Military Command of north Italy based in Turin. It was his second time into the army after 18 years and as art director was one of his most satisfying experiences.
The past April 2009 was released a book organized, illustrated and created by MG for APPLAUSI PUBLICATIONS:
PROG 40 (Forty years of progressive Rock in the World)
Within this years an english version of this book will be published world wide.
The past July 2012 Maurizio Galia was the Art- Director of the festival "Le Radici del Rock" in Viterbo (near Rome).
