Professional Experience

the visual in[ter]ventions of hybrid recall

Tracking the self; retracing the usable-past - to develop new visual narratives. Revealing interesting threads of artistic expression. To wit, consider portraiture; consider the still life. Potent social commentary in the 1600s and late 1800s. People stylishly depicted, in their personal spaces, with the luxurious nature of their everyday things.

Into the 20th Century these genres were depicting a fragmenting society with fractured faces, shattered objects and dis-assembled spaces. But, nevertheless, still actual in intent - and beautifully rendered with dramatic colors and patterns.

Now, self-made identities grow boundless. The indulgence of self is a global activity. The spaces people occupy, and their personae, morph at will from one style-construct to another. Reality has become virtual while luxury articulates the new consumer standard. The content of life is measured by infographics.

Current work investigates these various disjunctions - using visual evidence of childhood events, places lived in and visited; adding objects of interest, objects luxurious. Combining different events, different time periods and unrelated locations. Creating an infographic recall for in situ remembering.
