After finishing her studies in Hamburg Katharina began to illustrate children`s books while drawing numerous exclusive picture stories
for the editorial department of ZEIT ONLINE the online edition of the German weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT.
After years of being a graphic designer as well as a picture editor in which she held editorial responsibility for a constantly high
level metaphorical language, she created her own style of vector illustrations and photo collages.
The journey continues and leads back to Katharina Langer’s roots – to painting where she catches contemporary moments in oil and acrylic.
They set a visually intellectual commentary with a lasting effect. She believes in painting as a returning medium resisting trends and fashion.
Driven by curiosity, questioning and with a view to the essential, Katharina Langer examines the human being underneath the surface.
The human beings in her pictures have a core individual goodness, which she draws out from her observations.
Her seemingly unprecise observation does not waste time dealing with unnecessary details. The fast, dynamic and appearingly loose
lines lovingly capture impressionist moments, letting the portrayed character emerge. Levels, which at first sight are unnoticed,
subversively and profoundly permeate to the observer.
