Based in the Washington DC metro area, Hannele Lahti specializes in documentary and fine art photography. Creating images of daily life in a new, fresh manner is what drives her creative vision and keeps her exploring new places and subjects. Over the past few years, Hannele has begun blending audio and video with her still images as another way to fully tell the stories she documents. Her work have been exhibited in throughout the East Coast of the USA.
When she's not traveling all over the place, her lens focuses on the trials and tribulations of her 2 rescue dogs at home. The project began with simple pictures of her first dog Annie, the dramatic Boston Terrier, but has now morphed into an obsession to understand the impact pets have on our lives.
Hannele, who graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Photography, is an active member of the art community in Washington DC. She is the Co-President of the DC Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers, a member of the Women Photojournalists of Washington and is on the Advisory Board for FotoDC Inc., which hosts FotoWeek DC each November.
