Brief Summary

After completing a degree in Visual Communication (Photography & Digital Imaging) from the University of Western Sydney, Abbie went on to become a commercial photographer’s assistant in well-respected Sydney studio 44a Thomas St. Here she realised her talents and passion lay in post production. She left the world of assisting behind and turned to the ‘dark art’ of Photoshop.

Abbie worked as a freelance retoucher for many Sydney photographers, which led to a role at premier retouching house Electric Art. It was here she discovered her passion lay in fashion and beauty retouching.
Abbie's first full time, inhouse retouching position was as the Senior Retoucher for Harper's Bazaar Magazine (Australia). She stayed in this role for three years before venturing out on my own as FauxPink.

Specialising in fashion and beauty retouching, Abbie has been incredibly fortunate to have worked with some of the best photographers from Australia and around the world. She has a strong knowledge of the industry, and the CMYK print process.

Professional Experience
Overview
I am a high-end image retoucher, with over 12 years of Photoshop experience. I specialising in fashion and beauty retouching for both editorial and advertising photography.
I currently run my own boutique retouching business, FauxPink. I work with some of the industrys best photographers, advertising agencies and magazines to achieve optimum results of the highest quality; on time and to brief.
I have run sold-out seminars on image retouching techniques and prior to moving to London in 2010, I was approaced by the University Of New South Wales; College Of Fine Art, to teach image retouching to tertiary students.
I have featured in articles about retouching on www.News.com.au and more recently in The Times of London where I was described by journalists as a ‘veteran of the industry’.
After completing my Degree in Visual Communication in 2000 - and with less than 5 years industry experience - I was employed in the highly coveted role as In-House Senior Retoucher for Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Australia. This role involved the retouching of every image for the magazine, from the celebrity front cover, to the deep-etching of beauty products. I was responsible for the image workflow, ensuring images complied with strict quality standards and print deadlines.
Upon leaving Harper’s Bazaar, I remained at ACP Magazines in theretouching ‘response team’, working across various titles at the company from weekly magazines to Mens, food, lifestyle and home/interior publications. Whilst I now specialise in fashion and beauty retouching, I am expereinced in retouching a variety of subject matter.
I am highly motivated and absolutely adore what I do for a living. I love the challenge of new creative endeavors. I look forward to what my career as a retoucher has in store for me for the future and welcome all new opportunities.
