Brief Summary
Contemporary photo-montage illustration for print and beyond. All things possible. Good to go on Editorial, Publishing and Advertising work.

Derek's versatile working style combines photo-montage and digital over-painting to create interesting, distinctive, and oddly-humorous picture-work.

Comfortable in Editorial, Publishing and Advertising fields, the versatility of Derek's work is reflected in his varied client list, which includes a number of front covers for The Economist and most recently, a 16-part childrens book series for the Scandinavian market.

Influences include: George Tooker, Norman Rockwell, Saul Steinberg, David Hockney, Carl Giles, Stanley Spencer, Beryl Cook, Edward Hopper, Robert Crumb, William Hogarth and Henri Rousseau—and for their generally inspirational working methods: Brian Wilson, William Burroughs, The Beatles, and Tony Schwartz.

Born in London, Derek has lived in Madrid and Jakarta and now lives on England's south coast.

When not making pictures, Derek enjoys sound-recording, collecting rocks, eating fish and chips on a Saturday, and daydreaming with his family.
