Berlin-based Darius Ramazani is a well-known freelance photographer with a focus on people and portrait photography. His photo reports, portraits and advertising campaigns have won prizes including the ADC Award, the iF design award, the red dot award and the German Design Award. As the son of a Persian father and a German mother, Darius Ramazani, who was born in New Haven, USA, lives and works in Berlin.
His passion for photography was initialized in his time at school. He was particularly influenced by two school trips to Warsaw and Krakow, Poland. Wandering through the streets of the cities with his classmates, he took pictures of everything that was interesting to him. He still owns some of the black-and-white picture of that time, because they are a treasured memory of how his passion and career started.
Nowadays, Darius Ramazani works for noteworthy clients including Nokia and Meissen Porcelain. He is also involved in various social and independent projects. A project that is very near to his heart is his work with the elderly. On the one hand he is fascinated by their never-ending amount of life stories that could fill libraries; on the other hand he is also confronted with the negative sides of aging, such as illness or death. His style of photography can be described as real, authentic and clean.
