Kobayashi is a cutting edge live-action / animation director, with a strong photographic and VFX background. He actually lives and works in London, Milan and Dusseldorf, in fact he is represented in UK, Germany and Italy.
Director Kobayashi was born in 1976. He spent his entire life developing an incredible sense for style and a frenzy love for images, specially digital. He has always been passionate for photography, film, animation and computer graphics.
At 22 he landed his dream job as a digital VFX artist at Digitalia Graphics, a well-known post-production company in Milan. For 5 years he worked with some of the biggest italian names in advertising and film industry, like Gabriele Salvatores, Mario Monicelli, Pupi Avati and Carlo Verdone.
At 27 he gave birth to abstract Groove with Luigi Pane. Their own creative and production studio, based in Milan. At abstract Groove he started developing his directing and editing skills on corporate and viral videos for brands like Diesel, Gianfranco Ferrè, Carlsberg and 55DSL.
In 2007, in a need of new challenges and opportunities, he moved to London. Starting up his career as an international director he got the name “Kobayashi” as an iconic representation of his new life.
During 2007/2008 he worked at Cinesite in London as a 2D compositor on The Golden Compass, Hellboy 2, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Bed Time Stories.
He is now represented by Rubber Studios in London (UK), Liz Laine Reps in Chicago (USA) and in the rest of the world he is working trough his agent/rep Betty Codeluppi.
His work has been featured on many international magazines, blogs and web sites (Computer Arts Projects UK, GoMotion Magazine, Boards Mag’s web site, Shots’ Cut & Paste, Adverbox, Fubiz, Brand Republic, etc.)
In 2009 he gave lectures at the first Kuala Lumpur Design Week and at Offf 09 in Oeiras (Portugal).
