Photography is an ongoing expression of my heritage through both reality and fantasy. For the past seven years, I have been returning to my hometown of Titusville, Pennsylvania to make photographs of the town and its citizens. With these visits I create images of hardworking and honorable people; the story is told in both their surroundings and their weathered expressions. Ultimately, the characters in my photographs weave a romantic tale of one’s dedication to being human.
Although I am very closely tied to this particular collection of images, the same visual themes can be seen throughout all of my work. No matter who is assigning the project, I try to approach every photograph as an opportunity and a challenge to make my best work. I am attempting to tell a story and represent my subject matter in a way that no one else has ever done before.
Collaboration is fundamental to my process from concept to completing the final image. I work closely with everyone on my team to create the best images possible. I believe it is imperative that everyone working with me has a vested interest in our projects. Even if a photograph fundamentally fails, there is significant value in the creative process of collaboration.
