Brief Summary
Karen Kurycki is a designer/illustrator in Jacksonville, FL. Design is her passion and she loves to combine illustration with design in her commercial work. Karen has been experimenting with watercolor since her days at Kent State University, embracing its unpredictability and the surprises that can come out of using It. She admits that in her view of the world she usually sees the humorous, the quirky, the slightly off "normal", which she tries to communicate through her design and illustration.

Karen is President of the Jacksonville chapter of AIGA. She is a strong proponent of volunteerism, and as Community Outreach Chair for AIGA Jacksonville, she was instrumental in starting Discover Design, a mentoring program for high school students.

Her work has been featured in Print Magazine's Regional Design Annual, and she has won numerous local and regional AAF Addy Awards. She contributed to the book 1000 Ideas by 100 Graphic Designers published by Rockport in 2009. Her illustrations can also be seen in the recently published, Things Drunk People Say, available at Urban Outfitters. Her work has been recognized on popular design blogs, including FFFFOUND, DesignWorkLife and the Behance Featured Project Gallery. In her spare time, Karen enjoys collecting '80s paraphernalia, creating customized personal t-shirts for every home Jags game and singing karaoke.
