Designer Bubi Au Yeung is an award-winning artist working out of Hong Kong. Taking on more than just the standard t-shirt designing aspect of artistry, Bubi also illustrates stories and designs a number of toys, figures, and other creative products.
Whatever the medium, all of Bubi's creations share in their simple shapes and whimsical characterization. Drawing her inspiration from her surroundings (whether it is music, film, current events, or simply a passing remark from her friends), Bubi stresses the importance that illustration has to her on a personal level, as she can "see the beauty of creation with the flow of ink running on paper."
No matter what it is that inspires her, it works. From her self-educated beginning doodling on whatever material happened to be handy, Bubi has risen to great heights in illustration and artistry. As a freelance illustrator, Bubi Au Yeung's designs have won a number of prizes. Some of her poster designs received recognition from the CLIO awards, and Format Magazine chose Bubi's work as one of the top ten designer toys of 2006. Other achievements include the 2006 Plastic and Plush Toy of the Year Award. Her work has also appeared in several exhibits, including the 2007 Wurstminster Dog Show, which represents over 100 international artists.
