Barbara’s art and illustration has received national attention: awards and collectors include the National Parks Academy for the Arts, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the American Academy of Equine Art.
In recent years Barbara's illustration work has been taken to a larger scale: she is creating murals for various visitor centers and museums with natural science themes. The murals are created through a combination of traditional and digital techniques.

Professional Experience
Skills & Qualifications
• Strong command of digital media: award-winning, professional level of skill in digital art creation, image manipulation, and graphics via Adobe Photoshop. Additional experience in Illustrator, InDesign, Flash.
• Medical and veterinary experience: competency in technician duties, including lab work, surgical prep, husbandry and general hospital procedures; comfortable assisting in veterinary medicine, surgery and pathology.
• Solid communicator at multiple levels: ability to translate complex written or verbal concepts into
comprehensible visuals. Instructor in Photoshop, and watercolor and acrylic painting; occasional author and editor for trade publications, exhibits, and web.
• Versatility and skill in traditional art techniques: strong talent in traditional “board” art, including drawing and painting in a variety of media (watercolor, gouache, airbrush, pen and ink, scratchboard, colored pencil, oil, acrylic). Award winner at local and national levels.
• Experience with promotion, marketing, copyright and legal issues as they pertain to medical and
biological illustration and/or intellectual property.
• Organizational, motivational, and time-management skills acquired through managing a business requiring a market awareness, working efficiently and under deadline, and maintaining good client relations; productive working both alone and as part of a team.

• Master’s degree: Biomedical Visualization, University of Illinois at Chicago, 1990.
Internship at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
• Bachelor’s degree: double major, Zoology and Fine Art, University of California, Berkeley, 1985.
