Erwin K. Bauer is a trained agriculturist and graphic designer. Bauer worked at Total Identity in Amsterdam as a designer after studying font and book design at the Vienna University of Applied Arts. He founded “bauer – concept and design,” his interdisciplinary design office in the Alpenmilchzentrale building after he returned to Vienna in 1996. He has taught courses in visual design concepts and design management at the Vienna University of Applied Arts since 1993. Erwin K. Bauer also lectures and organizes workshops at other institutions such as the Merz Akademie Stuttgart, Donau-Universität Krems, The Offenbach School of Design, The Mainz School of Design or the Zurich School of Design. Bauer’s work on specialized books, symposia and the regular publication of his view of current design issues underline how important reflection on his own and design work in general is to him.
