Acronym is a design studio that seeks to bring enduring craftsmanship to beautifully detailed and lasting pieces. Blending inspiration from urban and rural cues, it draws from experience in many fields of design: industrial, architectural, interior, and transportation. The subtle lines, careful details and practical utility for which Acronym is known are the product of this experience. The core of Acronym’s design ethic is the honest use of natural materials and finishes, and the expression of structure in form.
Owner Andrew Bennett Dickson founded the company in 2006. As an interior architect, he garners inspiration from his work with refined corporate interiors, sleek boats, practical storage systems, high-end kitchens and supersonic jet interiors. A consummate gear-head, tinkering with race cars and his 1940s Farm-All tractor have developed the inherent sense of structure and utility evident in each piece.
Known mostly for well-crafted furniture, Acronym also puts its knowledge of industrial processes and love of simplicity to work for other manufacturers. Design partnerships have produced outdoor lighting, landscape pieces, furniture and art installations.
All Acronym pieces are produced in Kansas City, and are made to order. Depending on production load, you can expect 8 to 12 weeks for delivery. Customized options are available within the existing product line.
