Brief Summary
I create photo-realistic computer generated images for the Architectural and Product Design sectors.

With over 15 years of experience with 3D imagery I pride myself on producing an accurate, cost effective, personal solution to your visualisation needs; on time and on budget.

My goal is to take a brief and produce convincing images of the project that allows the designer to see the reality of their idea. 3D Visuals are a great tool for presentation and allow the client to see a 'photograph' of the finished design even before construction begins.

I provide complex 3D modelling, creative 2D graphic design, near photographic computer visuals for architectural / product design and consultancy services for clients. Software includes Softimage|XSI, Maxwell~Render, 3D Studio MAX and Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and Illustrator).
The list of end clients I have produced visualisations for includes; Adidas, Harrods, Nike, Vodafone, Christian Dior, Guess, Regus, Aquascutum, Leicester Grammar School, Martin Audio, Maxxis, Blacklock Jewellery, Bristol City Council, SmartWater…
Examples of my work can be seen on my website.

Planet, Sheffield, UK
Senior Visual Designer
June 1999 – Sept 2006 As a key innovator for this company, I had senior responsibility for the design requests of the company's major clients, which included; Vodafone, V&A Museum, LSE and Orange. Since joining Planet I introduced 3D Visualisations & Walkthroughs as a major part of any presentation. My involvement in client meetings was essential to both determine their needs and suggesting alternative solutions.
I constantly researched the latest advances in hardware and software to keep myself one step ahead, allowing me to improve the company's level of presentation. Information gained here was passed on to junior members of the team during regular training.
Sole operator of Softimage|XSI and 3D Studio MAX; used to create video walkthroughs, QTVR and photographic stills for presentations.
Excellent Photoshop user. For both the creation of texture maps for Softimage / MAX, post production, touch-up and compositing.

Baymark, Sheffield, UK
CAD Visualist
July 1997 – May 1999 Here I led the development and implementation of moving the company's overall design emphasis from 2D plans and elevations to 3D presentations. In recognition of my work I was awarded the “Design and Technology Award” by Durham County Council.
Main software used was AutoCAD, where I became fluent in both its 2D / 3D range of commands.

J T Thorpe & Son, Leicester, UK
CAD Designer
April 1993 – Dec 1996 CAD Designer for well established design company. Projects completed for clients included mainly 3D visualisations with some 2D working drawings. Also responsible for the maintenance of the 20 station Novell Netware / Windows company network.

Courses & Training:
Softimage|XSI 102 :
Materials, Texturing, Lighting and Rendering.
Dec. 2001 – March 2002 During this 11 part course, written by Mesmer's Ed Harriss, I covered specific areas of XSI in detail and also general rendering enhancements. This improved the quality and level of detail of my computer generated images. I earned myself extra credit for undertaking additional work on this course.

LEAF and SIGGRAPH Conferences
1998 – Present I have been a regular attendee of LEAF since it started and more recently SIGGRAPH in the USA. Knowledge gained at these conferences has enhanced my 3D animation and design technique greatly, constantly teaching me new and better 3D practices.

Arnold & Carlton College, Notts.
3D Studio MAX
Sept 1998 – June 1999 3 module course leading to a certificate in 3D computer graphics. Split into Modelling, Materials and Animation. Course objectives were to create a full understanding of this powerful 3D animation software.

De Montfort University, Leicester
CAD for Architects
Nov 1992 – Jan 1993 Advanced Training Course; a 12 week evening course mastering the more complex architectural aspects of AutoCAD r12 and AEC 3.1. This is where I first started my involvement with 3D Studio r2

The third year was spent on exchange at Pennsylvania State University, USA. The final year focused on a nine month project designing a multiplex cinema. Here I was a member of the fencing society.
